Pearlescent pigments are the preferred products for today's product designers and color workers. Automotive metallic paints, cosmetic makeup products, household utensils, daily necessities, high-end product packaging containers, etc., all meet the aesthetic requirements of the public through the extensive use of various colors of pearlescent pigments. This not only enriches people's color world and enhances their quality of life but also plays a decisive role in promoting consumption upgrades.
The pearlescent pigment industry in China began in the 1990s. Although many companies have shut down or changed industries for various reasons, the overall development trend is healthy. Currently, there are more than ten pearlescent pigment companies of varying sizes in China, and various polytechnic universities are conducting research in different fields. By September 2014, China had the production capacity to produce 30,000 tons of pearlescent pigments annually, of which about 10,000 tons of Chinese pearlescent pigments were exported to countries around the world.
Currently, the largest production scale and sales volume in the domestic industry is held by Kuncai Jinghua, which has a production capacity of over 10,000 tons of various specifications of pearlescent pigments annually; followed by Oke Chemical and Ruicheng Pearlescent. The production capacity of pearlescent pigment companies varies, with large companies producing tens of thousands of tons annually and smaller ones producing hundreds of tons.
With the improvement of production capacity in China's pearlescent pigment industry, the supplier market pattern for raw material suppliers is gradually taking shape. Coupled with factors such as labor, other chemicals, coal prices, and oil prices, the ex-factory cost of pearlescent pigments per ton has gradually increased, significantly reducing the profitability of enterprises. There are many pearlescent pigment production companies in China, but customers are dispersed, and sales costs are high, leading to intense competition at the end-user level. There is also a lack of necessary communication and complementary advantages among peers, resulting in the industry facing a relatively difficult situation, mainly reflected in the following points:
First, there is no industry organization among peers to lead the healthy and correct development of the industry, and there is no support from policy departments;
Second, there is a lack of mutual trust among peers, and there are no negotiation methods or coping strategies for raw material suppliers, leading to uncontrolled raw material prices;
Third, there is disorderly competition among peers, with malicious bidding and chaotic international market prices, which seriously leads to adverse development in the industry, directly affecting the industry's status and market image;
Fourth, there is a significant gap in process levels across the industry, and a large gap in safety responsibility awareness, affecting global perceptions of the Chinese industry and significantly impacting the status of Chinese products in the international market;
Fifth, there is an urgent need to establish and improve industry standards, enhance the level of industry self-discipline, maintain the competitive ability of the industry market, and improve the global core competitiveness of Chinese pearlescent pigments. Development opportunities.
